On March 6, SACBO hosted a press conference to announce initiatives for International Women’s Day in collaboration with the BGY Airport Granfondo. With the theme “Pedal! Without Brakes and Without Heels,” SACBO emphasized its commitment to inclusivity and supporting women, offering a platform for dialogue and active participation. The press conference was held at SACBO’s headquarters.
The BGY Airport Granfondo is a highly impactful event that annually attracts cycling enthusiasts and two-wheel lovers. The scale of the event has always allowed for the promotion of significant educational values.
In addition to themes of environmental sustainability and the promotion of sustainable mobility, this edition aims to highlight the importance of female inclusivity in sports, with the goal of creating opportunities for everyone to participate.
During the event, held at SACBO’s auditorium, prominent local figures participated, including Giovanni Sanga, SACBO President; Amelia Corti, SACBO General Director; Lara Magoni, Member of the European Parliament and CONI Provincial Delegate; Giorgia Gandossi, Provincial Councilor; Claudia Ratti, A.ri.Bi. President; Carola Gentilini, Director of the Ghisallo Museum; and Giuseppe Manenti, organizer of the Granfondo.
To make female participation even more tangible, a special initiative was announced: on March 8, all women could register for free for the race on May 4. This unique opportunity encouraged women to challenge themselves and experience the thrill of a cycling competition.
International Women’s Day was celebrated on two wheels, combining a passion for sport and attention to sustainability with a daily commitment to gender equality.
