SACBO and ACA: a beneficial process explained by SACBO’s Managing Director.

The zeroing of CO2 emissions by 2050 is one of the main goals set by the entire SACBO group with a view to sustainable development.

As evidence of the commitment applied to the cause, it is worth noting that every year since 2014, the company has obtained international Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) certification.

As SACBO’s Managing Director Emilio Bellingardi stresses in the interview that follows, the initiative has seen our involvement intensify over the years, with a progressive increase in results.

In 2014, SACBO obtained recognition for the first level (MAPPING) of this important certification, demonstrating awareness of the use of available resources and the efforts made for their optimisation by means of its environmental policy (compliant with, and certified as, ISO 14001).

The following year, SACBO obtained second-level accreditation (REDUCTION), demonstrating its constant containment and reduction of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere, through the identification and implementation of a series of actions designed to optimise energy efficiency. This level was renewed year by year until, in 2020, despite the ongoing pandemic, the goal of raising ACA attestation to level three (OPTIMISATION) was achieved.

It should be noted that level three certification represents a significant upgrade in terms of commitment and actions developed to achieve the objective of reducing CO2 emissions, implying the involvement in the emission reduction plan of third parties, i.e., the Group’s stakeholders, through actions and initiatives aimed at fostering involvement, raising awareness of the objective underlying the plan and sharing this goal.
