SACBO Begins New Chapter with Airport Services Center Project

On Wednesday, March 19, at Milan Bergamo Airport, SACBO celebrated the groundbreaking of its new  Airport Services Center with a cornerstone-laying ceremony. The event, led by SACBO President  Giovanni Sanga, marked the start of an ambitious project aimed at significantly enhancing the airport’s  service offerings and operational efficiency. Attending alongside Sanga were Bergamo Mayor Elena  Carnevali, Bergamo Province President Pasquale Gandolfi, Lombardy Regional Councillor for  Infrastructure, Transport, and Sustainable Mobility Claudia Maria Terzi, the mayors of Orio al Serio,  Grassobbio, and Seriate—Alessandro Colletta, Manuel Bentoglio, and Gabriele Cortesi respectively— ENAC Bergamo Director Roberta Carli, and representatives from other airport authorities.

The Airport Services Center will be built near the P3 intermodal parking lot, in a highly strategic area for  accessibility. The site, owned by SACBO and located in the municipality of Bergamo, borders the P3  lot. The facility will cover a total area of 3,600 square meters, with a six-story building encompassing  10,000 square meters. It will house new offices linked to airport operations, conference rooms, and  the Hilton Garden Inn Bergamo Airport hotel. This hotel will offer a comprehensive range of high functioning services for travelers, including luggage storage, information desks, and a shuttle service  to and from the airport.

As SACBO President Giovanni Sanga stated, the new facility is scheduled for completion just before  the launch of the direct rail link to the airport, contributing to a new dimension of mobility and  hospitality while raising service standards even further. At the climax of the ceremony, a parchment  was placed within the foundation bearing the message:

“Building is like planting a seed to nurture. A structure requires the care of a gardener, and what  is set to rise here will be carefully tended in every detail to serve those who travel and connect.”

This new center is a key element in SACBO’s broader development plan, representing a significant  step toward creating a more welcoming, modern, and efficient airport. On a larger scale, the project  highlights the company’s ongoing commitment to meeting the needs of passengers and stakeholders,  while supporting regional development and contributing to local economic growth.
