Milan Bergamo Airport’s Support for Culture and the Local Community

The role of a modern airport infrastructure goes beyond that of a mobility hub, extending to its ability to generate value for the territory in which it operates. From this perspective, Milan Bergamo Airport confirms its wide-ranging commitment in 2025 as well, intertwining culture, participation, and care for the community through a series of initiatives that contribute to social growth and quality of life.

Among the most significant cultural projects is the exhibition “EMOTIONS OF THE GAMES – CULTURE THROUGH SPORT,” inaugurated on December 10 at Gate A1. Promoted by Regione Lombardia and produced by FICTS as part of the Milano Cortina 2026 Cultural Olympiad, the exhibition guides passengers through a visual journey dedicated to the achievements of great Olympic and Paralympic champions, highlighting sport as a universal language and a tool for dialogue between cultures.

The airport also continues to serve as a space open to artistic and technological experimentation through the Steelbloom project, which brings together contemporary art and digital innovation. This includes the Steelbloom Sessions, interactive installations such as “Noi Vivi Arte,” and the Armonia Chairs—designer seating equipped with music-listening technologies—transforming the transit experience into a moment of discovery and cultural engagement.

Support for culture also extends to the region’s musical tradition through the partnership with the International Piano Festival of Brescia and Bergamo, now in its 62nd edition. As a sponsor, Milan Bergamo Airport supports an event of international significance which, in 2025, celebrated the great Spanish musical tradition, reaffirming the value of music as a shared heritage and a driver of collective growth.

Alongside cultural initiatives, Milan Bergamo Airport renews its attention in 2025 to the concrete needs of the local community. In collaboration with the Municipality of Seriate, the airport took action to enable the reactivation of the school bus service for children living in the Cassinone district, a service that had been suspended for several years and was strongly requested by families.

Thanks to a charitable contribution, the airport played a decisive role in restoring the service, allowing children to reach the Gianni Rodari and Aldo Moro schools safely and regularly. This initiative goes beyond logistical support, restoring peace of mind to parents and strengthening the sense of belonging of the district within the Seriate community.

Finally, the long-standing partnership with the Bergamo Book Fair continues. For over 66 years, the event has enlivened the Sentierone, transforming it into a large open-air bookshop. It is a cornerstone of the city’s cultural life, engaging diverse audiences through meetings with authors, in-depth discussions, and activities dedicated to younger visitors.

Taken together, these initiatives reflect a vision of the airport as an infrastructure fully integrated into its territory: a place that promotes culture, supports the community, and contributes tangibly to social development through actions that generate shared value and strengthen ties with people and local institutions.
