On the occasion of the celebrations linked to the encyclical Pacem in Terris, Milan Bergamo Airport renews its bond with the history and identity of the local area by supporting the theatrical production “A Child Who Became Pope.” The play, which will make its national debut on Saturday, 11 April at the Teatro San Giovanni XXIII in Sotto il Monte Giovanni XXIII, is entirely dedicated to the figure of Angelo Giuseppe Roncalli, a personality inseparably linked to the Bergamo area and a universal symbol of dialogue and fraternity.
Promoted by Edufactory Associazione APS in collaboration with the Santuario San Giovanni XXIII, the initiative aims to retrace the childhood years of the future Pope John XXIII. Through the immediate and engaging language of theatre, the performance offers an intense portrayal of the everyday life and formation of a man whose vocation and message of peace would leave an indelible mark on 20th-century history.
The decision to support this production stems from the desire to make the themes of solidarity and civic coexistence accessible to younger generations as well. Transforming historical memory into a contemporary narrative experience allows fundamental values to be conveyed in a direct way, fostering deeper reflection on the concept of community.
For Milan Bergamo Airport, supporting this project represents a key step in its ongoing commitment to enhancing local cultural heritage. As a gateway to the region, the airport promotes initiatives that not only celebrate Bergamo’s historical excellence, but also actively contribute to spreading messages of strong social value. Taking part in this network of collaboration among institutions and associations underscores the airport’s constant commitment to fostering the growth of a more aware, inclusive community that is proud of its roots.
