Milan Bergamo Airport and BGY Airport Granfondo to celebrate the role of women in sport and society

Celebrating inclusion and equity through the voices of women who play leading roles in sport, work, and institutions: with this spirit, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, the arrivals area of Milan Bergamo Airport was transformed into an exceptional space for meeting and dialogue. The event, dedicated to highlighting women’s contributions starting from the world of cycling, is part of the broader range of initiatives promoted by the airport as the main sponsor of the BGY Airport Granfondo.

In the presence of SACBO President Giovanni Sanga and Chief Executive Officer Amelia Corti, the meeting reaffirmed a clear vision: the airport management company is not only a strategic mobility infrastructure, but also a true crossroads for supporting and giving voice to issues of profound social relevance.

The strong institutional participation confirmed the close synergy between the airport and the local community, giving rise to a debate rich in perspectives. Contributions were delivered by Marcella Messina, Councillor for Social Policies, Sport and Health of the Municipality of Bergamo; Claudia Terzi, Regional Councillor for Infrastructure and Public Works of Lombardy; and Paolo Franco, Regional Councillor for Housing and Social Housing of Lombardy.

Enhancing the roundtable discussion were the valuable testimonies of Lara Magoni, Member of the European Parliament and Provincial Delegate of CONI; Lara Parlato, Deputy Prefect of Bergamo; Captain Chiara Evangelista, Commander of the Orio al Serio Company of the Guardia di Finanza; and Monica Porta, Commander of the Bergamo City Local Police. Rounding off the programme, journalist and sports author Luciana Rota shared a direct and passionate perspective on the current and future challenges shaping the course of the women’s sports movement.
