Milan Bergamo Airport Focuses on Sustainability: A Concrete Commitment to Soft Mobility

Year after year, Milan Bergamo Airport strengthens its role as a promoter of sustainable mobility, demonstrating a tangible commitment to encouraging bicycle use and fostering environmentally friendly transportation.

A significant example of this commitment is the airport’s participation in the European Mobility Week, including its involvement in Bike to Work Day. On this occasion, the airport introduced its modern bike room to the public, offering the opportunity to explore the space and discover the benefits of cycling for commuting. Additionally, Milan Bergamo Airport welcomed students from the Caniana Institute in Bergamo, raising awareness among younger generations about the importance of sustainability and fostering a culture of soft mobility.

In December 2024, the airport and its managing company, SACBO, achieved the prestigious Bike Friendly Gold certification, awarded by the Italian Federation for Environment and Cycling (FIAB). This recognition, following the Silver certification in 2021, highlights the airport’s ongoing efforts to create a bike-friendly workplace, promoting employee well-being while reducing environmental impact.

Reaching the Gold level marks another milestone in Milan Bergamo Airport’s sustainability journey. The adoption of environmentally conscious solutions reaffirms the airport’s role as a model of responsible development. This approach demonstrates that growth and sustainability can coexist, paving the way for a greener future for present and future generations.
