BGY: an airport celebrating culture and art

Milan Bergamo Airport is not only a point of reference for travellers seeking to reach the leading destinations in Europe and beyond; it also plays an active role within the community, supporting and promoting local art and culture. Of the many initiatives that SACBO has organised in this area, one that stands out is its collaboration with the Carrara Academy of Bergamo in late 2023. The academy’s gallery is home to over one hundred works of art from between the 15th to the 19th centuries by both Italian and foreign artists.

An end-of-year gift to the community

To celebrate its ties with the Carrara Academy and to mark the end of the year of Bergamo Brescia Capitals of Culture 2023, the airport provided for two days of free access to the museum on 30 and 31 December 2023. As a result of this initiative, thousands of people had the opportunity to visit the halls of the Academy and admire masterpieces by masters such as Raffaello, Botticelli, Mantegna, Bellini, Lotto, Moroni, Baschenis, Fra Galgario and many more. It was an extremely successful initiative that attracted more than 5,000 visitors.

A constant commitment to culture and society

Free admission to the Carrara Academy is just one of the many actions taken by Milan Bergamo Airport to celebrate local art and culture, and to contribute to the well-being and development of society. To this end, the airport collaborates with a wide range of public and private institutions, museums, associations and businesses to organise projects that involve the community.

Ours is an airport that goes further than offering quality services to its passengers; promoting a form of culture that promotes awareness, freedom and wealth. An airport that believes in the role of beauty and art as tools for collective growth.
