The BGY Granfondo, the event that promotes cycling and sustainable tourism

14 May saw the return of the Granfondo, an international competition dedicated to cycling tourists that took place in the Bergamo area.

The event saw the participation of cycling enthusiasts of all ages and levels, in the name of a “slow ride” philosophy to be enjoyed with passion and spirit in an ideal balance of competition and fun.

This special event was an opportunity to enjoy the sport, but also a chance to discover the beauty of our territory, which is comprised of wonderful natural areas containing artistic and architectural treasures. There is also a local culinary tradition that deserves to be enjoyed after the race.

Inclusivity is a fundamental aspect of this sports event: the Granfondo proposed 3 different routes, allowing a wide and varied public to take part. The cyclists were given the opportunity to choose from a Short (89.4 km), Average (128.8 km) or Long (162.1 km) itinerary, suited to their level of preparation. The event organisers provided for elevated safety standards that were guaranteed throughout.

We are proud to have participated as a partner in this special event; we believe in the value of sport, not only in terms of health but also as a way to bring the community together, and for its educational role in terms of positive encounter and healthy competition, capable of overcoming cultural obstacles.

Our commitment to intermodality and cycle mobility drives us to support a sustainable form of tourism and events such as the Granfondo are perfect opportunities to promote a new way of experiencing travel, in direct contact with nature and the territory.
